New Years, Jazz in the snow.

This year was filled with challenges, highs, lows, changes, WHAT! moments and great differences. Usually ‘New Years’ is a time to reflect on the year that has just passed. We got married, quit our jobs and moved to a new country where we had no concept of the language or culture. As years go, this was a big one. Exactly a year ago we were in Mangawhai in shorts and t-shirts trying to foresee the up and coming year. One year on and we were sitting in a small jazz club on a ski resort after a night boarding, watching fireworks, drinking sake and eating sashimi, reflecting as usual trying to come to terms with the 180 degree shift in as many days. This adventure has certainly been that, an adventure! One in which I have been able to share with my friends new and old, my family and with my wife. Without whom I might just have never taken the leap, survived the fall and dusted myself off to enjoy life. So I raise my third sake (which starts to taste like water) to you my wife, my life and to the coming year!

Enjoy.

Fireworks over the ski field at midnight.

Enjoying good drinks and good company on the cold side of the world.
